Byzantine Chant Classes at St. Nicholas

ᾄσατε τῷ κυρίῳ ᾆσμα καινόν.
Sing unto the Lord a new song. (Ps. 97:1)

Music is inseparable from the Orthodox Christian faith. One of the first things that one notices when visiting an Orthodox Church is the fact that nearly the entire service is sung! In singing praises to our God, we join in with the angels who worship God in heaven through song (Cf. Isaiah ch. 6). The strength of our music ministry at St. Nicholas, then, is essential to our parish life.

In order to help more people learn and become involved with our music ministry, we will be offering classes in Byzantine chant. Classes will take place on Saturdays at 5pm, beginning July 17. If you are interested in learning and helping out, please feel free to attend! No prior knowledge of Byzantine chant is necessary or expected.
